HEE London & South East Multisector Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) Pilots
The purpose of the VTS pilots was to develop and test innovative models of multi-sector post-registration pharmacist vocational training, integration of independent prescribing in early careers, to evaluate and to learn from each pilot to support the development of a national programme.
The learning from both pilots has informed and shaped the national development of foundation pharmacist training and continues to support and inform development of multi-sector post-registration pharmacist training models in integrated care systems. The East Sussex pilot has now become a core training offer within East Sussex for post-registration pharmacist training.
Two pilots were completed in London & South East region:
South East London Foundation Pharmacist Vocational Training Scheme (SEL FP VTS).
East Sussex Better Together Multisector Foundation to Advanced Vocational Training Scheme (ESBT MFtA VTS).
The pilots were supported by an evaluation workstream.
The first report developed by the independent research organisation Breaking Blue will be available soon.
The second report was developed in partnership with the University of Manchester Centre for Pharmacy Workforce Studies. This report evaluated the General Practice rotations provided as part of the SEL VTS pilot and the reports are available by clicking the links below or through the CPWS website here.
A summary of both pilots is available in the presentation below:
